13th post / part 2
This is the second part about the Experimental Side of UK Anarchopunk scene during early 80s...
Maybe there could be in a future a third part...there was tones of bands and some are still undiscovered...a lot of demo tapes and limited self-released stuff...
The band in the picture was the VEX from London, they released one demotape in 83 and later they recorded one EP for the Conflict's label: Fight Back..the sounds was amazing..tribal-punk in the vein of Killing Joke and more evocative...remaining on Fight Back you could also find Arch Criminals for a conventional goth rock ep...One great anarchopunk band with a clear post-punk blend were Cold War, from London too, their discography is comprensive of 3 tapes (which 1 is live) that show a great primitive post-punk sounds, minimal and dissonant....plus one single released on the diy label Namedrop.. Cold War plus other Namedrop acts featured on the New Criminals compilations tapes..released by the New Crimes fanzine (Grahm Burnett's publications ..) that featured some anarchopunks acts along some diy/post-punk bands (like 86 Mix, Stripey Zebras, The Get, Twelve Cubic Feet and Cold War).
To add one minimal-synth duo in the anarchopunk scene i must mention The Committee, their stuff was amazing from 81 till 83 they released 3 demotapes...the sound inevitably changed from a cold minimal-synth to a more funny minimal-wave stuff..to arrive on their first and only ep with an original wave/post-punk stuff...higly reccomended of course...like the No Defences, a female fronted band that didn't released officially a lot but you could find some bootlegs and also one ep never released for the Crass Records..this band had got a lot of potential, great goth with female voice like Siouxsie stuff....more acid and tribal..
Another band i din't mention yet that perfectly fixed with the others ..we're Part 1..they're first demotape is a nice example of dark-punk, very esoteric and sick...

CHEMLAB - Burn Out at the Hydrogen Bar (1993)
industrial rock ..pretty nice !!

some real kick ass pictures from this fotogallery, by Unità (italian newspaper)...As you have already understand (i swear) this pics are about prostitution..they haven't got any years indication..they covered however from the 70s (i guess) to the 90s...
album of the day:
CANDIRU - unloved and weeded out (1993 relapse)
I'm not into metal at all...i'm into post-punk, minimal-synth, new wave, new beat...and industrial....i'm into a early 90s hype...1991 is the damn year...hovewer...Candiru, pennysilvania duo, released in 1993 this amazing album...early 90s are absolutely (especially in the US) industrial, funky industrial or industrial-metal...
this album covered both genre...tons of electronic effects, or sludge metal guitar,,,smooth metal...very cool drum programming..nice beats, nice sampler, always slashing industrial sounds..reverbed vocals..echoed stuff...pretty varied tracks..from more sludged oriented to experimental electronic tracks...this is a top notch album...and a pretty underrated...

In the past I've been an intense punk fan...later you know...grew up and stuff...hovewer I'm really astonished by the anarcho-punk scene...but not the usually Conflict chaos-punk or punk82 stuff...really annoying...but from the experimental one. Like the CRASS they start with a pretty boring marching-punk sound...but all the stuff later went more and more experimental...through post-punk till noise....
''Gerard’s right about the anarcho scene. At the time we got into it there were very blurred lines between the anarchos and the goths - because the goth bands were just bands they weren't corralled into a fashion - so a lot of the people who might see Crass and the Poison Girls might also see the Mob or Blood and Roses and might also see Southern Death Cult or Sex Gang Children. Then the journalist boyfriend of the singer of a band called Brigandage tried to lump some of these bands as a "positive punk" movement and it all backfired ludicrously so bands started to define themselves as anarcho bands or goth bands. But for a few months in 1982-3 there was a really lively scene and even after that the "anarcho" scene in London was a mixture of all sorts of people and I think, like the Mob, we fitted into that because we didn’t fit into it.” [from Flowers in the Dustbin site]
This is pretty interesting.
But just take a look to CRASS Records catalogue or the Corpus Cristi label...you will definitely find that kind of mixture of bands and style. Crass Records got the K.U.K.L. (post-punk from island with Bjork in it), Hitparade (wacky synth-punk outfit), The Cravats (amazing jazz-punk stuff) or the Lack of Knowledge (sort of anarcho Joy Division). Corpus got the UK Decay (they should be considered the first positive punk band amongst Sex Gang Children..imo), Very Things (Cravats spin-off) and Annie Anxiety (one of the coolest experimental dub lp).
The 96 Tapes label, is another of that kind...releasing only tapes...band like This Bitter Lesson, Flowers in the Dustbin and Blood & Roses were totally on the goth vein...

The Mob also were influencial in this flirting. Their label 'All The Madmen' released lot of great post-punk records. One of the best onthe label were Hysteria Ward, female fronted goth band with a tape and flexi single..mind-blowing.
Some other gems are the Spirit of an Old Age Anthem compilation tape, released by The Snipers. All the bands inside it are inspiring moving toward post-punk to a more conventional introspective punk.
War Toys were a band from North Devon and released some tapes, their demo of 1984 is simply amazing, the romanticism of goth band but the power of punk stuff.. To name other stuff...Youth in Asia released a demo in 1982, appears in Bullshit Detector 2, and played an outstanding post-punk sometimes more punk but got moments. The list could goes on & on, to name a more famous..the Rubella Ballet...but can we talk about the A.P.F. Brigade? minimal punk with drum-machine and their later big involvement in the cassette culture scene?? and the charming punk of Zounds?....

MAXX MANN - MAXX MANN (12'' ExtendedPlay 1982 Red Dog Productions)
I read about Maxx Mann here (Phil Mison Mixtape) but it was already on my RYM wishlist since february 2010...Finally i found some stuff on the net...This EP totally rocks! Freaky twisted disco oddity. It's something in the edge between new-wave, minimal synth and disco...For sure this is my number one EP of the week.

Today I spent a lot of time searching in the web scanned pics or photo of the BOY London, clothing brand.
In the official site you could find some history...and stuff to buy...
Just to name something ..it was (and still is) run by Stephane Raynor, were involved people such Steve Strange (Visage), Vivienne Westwood (Seditionaries), Boy George (Culture Club), batcave band Specimen and the stuff was worn from Andy Warhol to Pet Shop Boys...
find of the day:
Soul Hunter - Cain's Sign (12'' Ep 1985 Contempo, Coloured Vinyl ltd. 300 copies)
Italian post-punk band, from Florence founded by Vannini, the first singer of band Diaframma.
Nice ep...and it's nicest cos i've paid it only 2 fookin euros...

Early stuff...during punk days..this was taken from the Blackmail Catalogue
The NIGEL Shirt
another promo pic for early punk stuff...
awesome the Throbbing Gristle's Memorial Society (Gary Gilmore) T-Shirt!
and also she's wearing Stiped Pants and Wraparound Shades.
These were before the BOY eagle logo...
and later..
BOY eagle long-sleeve and BOY hat..rad!
the Eagle Catsuit is a top Notch! this was problably from mid 80s...86 or 87
What i like about the brand..is of course the main logo...the nazi eagle that hold BOY ...with that classic, evergreen anthem nazi reference as punk provocative style.
Also I pretty love that this brand born in the punk era, represent it, and change though the ages. During the late 80s BOY became an acid house essential hit. This is what i would like to say to everybody out there...punk was revolution..wasn't a fucking statement...punk is a mutant that changes every times...don't focus in the guitar style...punk is the attitude..acid house was the punk revolution during 88...probably...but for sure still playing punk stuff in 1988 wasn't revolutionary anymore of course....find of the day:

80s spot with guys in 'PANINARO' italian style
KLEENEX
ROCKSTAR '1 - DEVO
TOXIC SHOCK -just another day 1985
i'm gonna erase my ipod playlist...so this is what i was listening..
a guy called gerald - hot lemonade (cd 1988 rham)
even if acid house is not your favourite genre you should listen this album. It's fullfilled with synth-pop, electro and hip-house glances. After the Voodoo-ray Ep this is a real top notch release.
cabaret voltaire - crackdown (cd 1985 virgin)
i usually like c.v. but i'm able to find something that i like very much, 'nag nag ' of course is their peak, but what'else? At the end i believe this is their best album. Very electro, very groovy and danceable but also got good post-punk and industrial moments.
click click - wet skin and curious eyes (cd 1987 ld)
yea. 'Sweet stuff' is probably one of my fav song eva. A perfect mind-blowing mix beetween post-punk, industrial and groovy electro, soo fukin funky! This compilation of songs has a good varied of style, from very 'funky-alternative' industrial beat beat to some gloomy post-punk stuff. Underrated band.
colourbox - st (cd 1986 4ad)
i didn't listen too much this album. I stopped myself on the second track 'just give 'em whiskey' ...unbelievable catchy synthpop with that aggressive industrial and post-punk touch and tons of samples. The rest? female synth-pop...pretty disco...what's happened?
new order - substance (cd 1987)
totally love new order...they are so disco and so gay! However didn't like too much this comp...don't understand why so many tracks repeat in different mix ok..but why? i prefer to listen the singles separatly...this comp seems like the tracks were putted togheter without any sense..
front 242 - 06:21:03:11 up evil (cd 1993 red rhino)
one of front 242 late releases. Lot of guitar samples and the rhythm is less ebm and more in the industrial funky way. However...nice
hoodlum priest - heart of darkness (cd 1990 ztt)
this release is very funny or awful..it depends... heavy industrial funky beat with hip-hop rapping or something wannabe... the 90s begin...
meat beat manifesto - 99% (cd 1990 elektra)
ok another hiphop mixed with heavy industrial beat ..but hey cmon this is little different..they got class. they got groove ..they are totally funky ...'Dogstar man' rock the fuckin hell. If you listen this album and don't shake your ass...go and kill yourself please. These are the 90s!!!! album ..perfect
my life with the thrill kill kult - confessions of a knife (cd 1990 wax trax)
this album is another manifesto of 90s industrial...every track here is a killer! danceable, catchy but still heavy and hard as the worst industrial stuff. Some nice influences by the new techno and hip-house scene.
public image ltd - 9 (cd 1989)
slighty different..but not that much..this is when the PIL goes dance and influenced too by house stuff...by alternative dance scene ...('warrior', 'armada', 'like that'....good examples), however PIL are maybe one of the most underrated post-punk band...they made only good albums. They got groove on every fuckin song..
va - industrial hazard (3xcd 1998 dressed to kill)
this box is amazing! i paid for it only 5 euros...nuts...the artwork is cool and the comp reassemble stuff from the legendary cult 'Funky alternatives' series...
...today..is not a good day...i've bought two pairs of vans era..pink...dead 80s stock...
one bermuda CREEKS surf...can't find any info about...

Today i've read a lot of web pages about Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold ..the Columbine guys.
I kinda think that they were both great guy I found that I shared a lot of interest with them (like DOOM, musical taste) and also a lot of ideas about people and society totally agree with them.
God bless outcast!
Dylan and Eric favourite bands: KMFDM, Rammstein, Prodigy, Orbital, Pop Will Eat Itself, Smashing Pumpkins...
i'm wearing: burgundy color t-shirt fruit of the loom, camel color preppy pants, vans era ocean stencil orange early 90s.
song of the day:
Eutanasie - Eutanasie (1986)
West-germany anarcho punk band with post-punk flavor. This kind of band punk but post-punk amazed me! How you could not prefer Penis Envy instead of the Feeding?? Punk should be experimentation not a statement.
